Pakistan Super League 2021, The sixth edition and the biggest cricket event in Pakistan has began from 20th February 2021 with huge excitement. But, due to the coronavirus pandemic the entire season of the PSL2021 is being played only at three venues i.eKarachi, Gawadar and Lahore.
Starting with the Hbl Psl 2021 Squad 6 players, the team kept eight of its original players while the rest were selected in the players draft held in Lahore earlier last month.
Each team has five foreign players and 11 local ones in their 18-member squads. This year PCB has categorized the HBL PSL team players in Platinum, Diamond, Gold Silver, and Emerging category.
Karachi Kings Squad
Karachi kings reserves Babar Azam and Muhammad Amir in platinum category, Captain Imad Wasim in diamond category.
Along with them they retained Aamer Yamen and Sharjeel khan in Gold while, Waqas Maqsood in silver and Arshad Iqbal in emerging category.
Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam will continue to represent the Kings along with Mohammad Amir and Sharjeel Khan under the leadership of captain Imad Wasim. Other big names include Colin Ingram, Dan Christian, Mohammad Nabi and Chadwick Walton.
This year the draft of the team is very interesting. Lets start with the Karachi kings. Two very interesting picks, Muhammad Nabi from Afghanistan and Dan Christian from Australia to boost their all-rounding department which was a bit lacking last year.
In 2021 Hbl Psl, Wasim Akram is performing his duities as a head coach after the sad demise of John Dean the former Australian Cricketer, also performing his duities as a president and bowling coach of karachi kings.
Lahore Qalandars Squad
Lahore Qalandars has picked the leg-spinner Rashid khan from Afghanistan to play Pakistan Super League for the very first time. He would be playing very few matches with qalandars in platinum category and then go back to his country for test matches against Zimbabwe.
Other than him, Qalandars have picked Samit Patel from England , Agha Salman another young prospect and Muhammad Faizan .
Shoaib Akhter is leading the team as a captain. in platinum category Mohammad Hafeez , Shaheen Shah Afridi& Rashid khan. Fakhar Zaman David Wiese , Haris Rauf in Diamond category. Ben Dunk (Australian) & Dilbar Hussain in Gold category. Tom Abell, Shoiab Akhter and Muhammad faizan in Silver category.
Mr.Aaqib Javed is the coach of Lahore Qalandars PSL 2021.
Islamabad United Squad
The two times Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions and won the title against Quetta Gladiators & Peshawar Zalmi respectively in 2016 & 2018 Islamabad united has retained many of its players this year. Including captain Shadab Khan in Platinum category, Colin Munro & Faheem Ashraf in diamond category.
The hidden gem – Hussain Talat & Asif Ali in cool-in category. In silver category, Muhammad Musa & Zafar Gohar. They haven’t entertain any one from emerging category. The draft pitch of Islamabad united is very interesting this year.
Hassan Ali who had previously played for Peshawar Zalmi in every other PSL edition, is very big asset for IU now . Islamabad United has also made a trade with Karachi kings against Colin Ingram and have Alex hales in their team.
In Gold category IU have picked Phil salt, Lewis Gregory in diamond & Rohail Nazeer, the young prospect last year in silver category. in supplementary category IU have picked Chris Jordan and Akif Javed.
Islamabad United have picked the former South African cricketer Johan Botha as the new Head Coach of the franchise. Saeed Ajmal as assistant coach & Michael Smith as batting coach,
Peshawar Zalmi Squad
Peshawar Zalmi, the 2017 champions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), have named an 18-member squad for the sixth edition of the tournament. South African T20 star David Miller will be playing for Zalmi this time, along with other big names including Afghanistan’s Mujeeb-Ur-Rehman and West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford.
Team Yellow made major changes to their squad for the upcoming season as the team only used five retentions out of eight while letting go of key players such as Hasan Ali, Tom Banton and Carlos Braithwaite.
Peshawar Zalmi have picked David Miller from South-Africa in Platinum category. Mysterious spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rehman from Afghanistan and Sherfane Rutherford in diamond category. In Gold category , all-rounder Ammad butt, in silver category Saqib Mahmood from England along with Imam-ul-Haq , Umaid Asif and M.Imran. Abrar Ahmed in emerging category.
Wahab Riaz is the captain of Zalmi. Head coach Darren Sammy , Mohammad Akram (director cricket operations/bowling coach), Mahinder Pal Singh (assistant coach).
Multan Sultan Squad
Multan Sultans Squad for Pakistan Super League 2021, is all set with their newly looked team of the season 2021. In the previous edition they missed out of their chance of winning the competition. They lost their playoff games in a very close margins. Shan Masood is going to lead the side once again this year.
They have kept Shahid Afridi and Rille Rosssouw in Platinum category. Sohail tanveer ,Imran Tahir, Khushdil Shah in diamond category. In silver category, Adam Lyth & Sohail Khan. In gold category ,James Vince ,Shan Masood & Usman Qadir.
They have picked Muhammad Rizwan as a captain .Andy flower is the head coach of the team.
Quetta Gladiators Squad
Quetta Gladiators, the runner up of fifth Pakistan Super League are still in captancy of Sarfaraz Ahmed.
This year Quetta Gladiators is coming out with big names, They have picked Chris Gales in platinum category. Tom Benton who did his debute in PSL last year also in platinum category. In Gold category QG has picked Usman Shinwari. . Cameron Delport, Qais Ahmed another spinner from Afghanistan & Abdul nasir in silver category. Gladiators have pool of bowlers incomparable with last season.
Few picks in supplementary and emerging category. Aarish Ali Khan & Saim Ayub young players have been picked to show their talent.
Moin Khan is leading Gladiators as a head coach, Sir Vivian Richards is mentor/batting coach of the team , Umar Gul as bowling coach &Julian Fountain (fielding coach).
