EID-UL-ADHA 2021 IN MELBOURNE-AUSTRALIA – As we all know that 2021 was very rough year for every one around the world. With Covid-19, Eid-ul-Adha was definitely not the same as it was quite sad. There were apparently no gatherings allowed in closed spaces due to lockdown.
EID-UL-ADHA PREPARATIONS
When people are living abroad they miss their homeland, family ,relative and festivals. The feeling of being with family on festivals particularly the eids is beyond exceptional.
Although there are many incredible festivals taking place annually, but Eid-Ul-Fitr and Eid-Ul-Adha are the most awaited festivals among them. Overseas Pakistani desperately wait for their holidays or sometimes took it to comes to Pakistan and enjoy Eid with family and friends. The same happened with the family of Anayah at Eid-ul-Adha 2021 in Melbourne-Australia.
When Eid-ul-Adha comes , people bring sacrificial animals atleast 10 days before, take care of them, feed them and some even decorate them. Qurbani is a sacrifice to show gratitude towards ALLAH (S.W.T). The day is mostly spent n a religious and traditional manner. It starts off by wearing new clothes followed by offering congregational SALAH in the mosque. In addition to, sacrificing the animal and sharing it’s meat with friends & family as well as the needy or underprivileged is an integral part of Eid ul Adha.
FEAST OVER SACRIFICE
After sacrificing their animal and sharing the meat, it comes to the feast. Having a meal with family ,friends and relatives with a variety of meaty dishes. The most popular activity on Eid-ul-Adha is barbequing the meat, making kababs; Behari kabab, Behari boti, Reshmi kabab, Dhaga kabab, Malai boti, fried Dhaaga kabab, fry kabab and lots more.

And so, due to lock down families had to enjoy on their own. There are travel restrictions so, it was not possible to make it out of town to spend the eid holidays. It is not even allowed to host a party at home or visit anyone else. So, Muslims of Melbourne celebrated Eid-ul-Adha at their home mostly with their families. They hosted feast for themselves, cooked food and enjoyed with their immediate families. especially barbequing in their backyards. This however, did not compensate for the usual festivities but, it did prove to be fun and gave quality family time.
