Ramadan Celebrations 2021 during Covid-19 Lockdown | The Circuit Live

RAMADAN CELEBRATIONS

Ramadan Celebrations in Pakistan: The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, the holy month of blessings, RAMADAN has started. It is the month of fasting, in which muslims fast from drawn till dusk. Above all, it is the most glorious month for Muslims.

Muslims have this belief that ALLAH AlMIGHTY revealed the Holy Quran to the Prophet Muhammad in the month of Ramadan.

The holy month of RAMADAN officially begins at the first sighting of the waning crescent after the new moon.

The global Covid-19 pandemic around the world has really affected the festivities of Ramadan.

RAMADAN IMPORTANCE

Presently, Muslims around the world are in great pain to welcome the glorious month of Ramadan under these circumstances. Subsequently, Mosques around the globe are closed limiting muslims from offering their Ramadan prayers in Masjid (Mosque).

Sawm or Fasting during the month of Ramadan, is a pillar of one of the five pillars of Islam. These five pillars are an integral part of a Muslim’s faith. The Arabic word for fasting means “to refrain,” not only from food and drink but also from evil actions, thoughts, or words.

Ramadan is the month when muslims fast for the sake of Almighty. It is the month of seeking forgivness of sins from Almighty. New prayer mats and prayercaps for male members, prayer beads (tasbeehs) are bought. Muslims pray 5 times a day with an additional prayer that is offered at night called the Taraweeh prayer. All these prayers are preferably performed in congregation at the mosque. During Taraweeh prayers, the entire Qurān is recited over the period of the entire month of Ramadan.

Families and friends gather to break the fast and many attend congregational night prayers. Dates and fruit drinks are essentials to break fast in Ramadan.
